BEFORE YOU MIX
Have a question?
Do your kits include the tools I need?
Our dry-mix kits contain the specific components listed under “What’s inside.” Fresh ingredients and kitchen equipment are generally supplied by you. Every product shows a “Tools you’ll need” list before you select it. Products requiring specialty equipment are clearly identified, and equipment is not included unless specifically listed.
Why do some pickle mixes need extra equipment?
Certain fermented pickle concepts require specialized equipment and careful process monitoring. Our half-sour mixes are still in development and are not available to order. They require a fermentation vessel, weight, airlock, calibrated food pH meter, scale and room thermometer under the current development plan.
Will I need a phone to prepare my kit?
Each released mix will have a printed double-sided recipe card containing every essential preparation and storage step. The QR code is for supplemental help and cooking ideas. Our product support pages are open now with prelaunch FAQs; reviewed preparation directions will follow before sales open.
What will my kit arrive in?
We're testing an individually labeled dry-mix packet format with a printed recipe card and optional QR help. Final packet materials, closures, labels and outer packaging have not been approved. Photos of packaging concepts are examples, not the final shipped design.
Do the rubs and seasonings work on potatoes?
Yes. Herb Garlic, Mediterranean Herb, Garlic Pepper, Lemon Pepper, Cajun Inspired, and All Purpose Savory are good choices for roasted potatoes, wedges, or fries. Toss the potatoes with a little oil and season to taste. Taco Seasoning also works for taco-style potatoes, while sweeter blends suit sweet potatoes. Try Garlic Parmesan, Garlic Buffalo, or Alabama White BBQ sauce alongside them. Each product description lists more foods to try.
How much prep, waiting, and cooking time should I allow?
For planning, most sauces take about 5 minutes to mix and 5 to 12 minutes on the stove. Dips usually need 5 to 10 minutes of prep and 30 to 60 minutes in the fridge. Vinegar pickles take about 15 minutes to prep, around 5 minutes for the brine, and 24 to 72 hours in the fridge for flavor. Fruit pickles generally need 4 to 24 hours. Half-sour concepts are held. Their fermentation process and consumer directions require qualified review before any availability; no safe preparation schedule is released.
Rubs take about 10 minutes to apply. Small cuts of meat often cook in 20 to 60 minutes; ribs and large smoking cuts can take 4 to 18 hours or longer. Thickness, equipment, and temperature matter. These are planning ranges, not guaranteed finish times. Use a food thermometer and the cut-specific recipe.
How much meat does each mix cover?
Our recipe development target is 2 lb (32 oz) of raw meat for each Standard rub packet. A Standard sauce mix is planned to make 1 cup (8 fl oz) of sauce, enough to coat or glaze 2 lb of meat. Small is planned for 1 lb, Large for 4 lb, Cookout for 8 lb, and Crowd for 16 lb, per rub or sauce flavor. A rub and sauce can be used on the same meat, so don’t add their coverage amounts together. If you choose several sauces, split the cooked meat between them or keep extra sauce refrigerated. Those are mix coverage targets, not guest counts. Final packet weights and recipe yields still need testing before launch.
Do I need a grill or smoker?
No. Many meals can be cooked in an oven or heavy pan. A grill suits burgers, steaks, and chicken; a smoker is useful for brisket, ribs, and pork shoulder. Sauces need a small pot and whisk. Dips need a bowl and spoon. Pickling needs clean jars, measuring tools, and a fridge; half-sours also need fermentation equipment and a way to check acidity. See the equipment guide on How It Works, and use the method recommended for your chosen recipe.
Can I add wet ingredients as well?
We’re planning that as an optional add-on. In the builder, check “Include pantry wet ingredients” to preview the shelf-stable items for your mixes and their added price. The list changes with your flavors and size. You’ll still supply fresh food, water, dairy, butter, and anything outside that list. Some mixes, including half-sours, don’t have a pantry add-on. We’ll confirm the products, amounts, and allergens before launch.
How is shipping estimated?
Your bag estimates shipping using the kit sizes, number of boxes, jars, pantry ingredients, and packaging weight. A large bag may need several parcels. It’s an estimate, so the final charge will depend on the delivery address and the packed weight and dimensions. We’ll confirm that before orders open.
Exactly what do you send, and what do I supply?
The base kit contains dry seasoning and pickling blends, dry sauce and dip mixes, and recipe instructions. Jars are optional. We’re also planning shelf-stable wet ingredient packs, with items such as vinegar, mustard, soy sauce, or mayonnaise listed for each mix. If you don’t select that pack, you supply the wet ingredients. Fresh food, water, dairy, butter, and anything not listed always come from you. We’ll publish the final ingredients, amounts, and allergens before sales begin.
Can I include Mason jars with my box?
Yes. For boxes with cucumber, vegetable, or fruit pickling mixes, check “Include Mason jars & lids” and choose how many you want per box. You can change that in your bag too. They’re $4 each with a lid: 16 oz for Small kits, and 32 oz for Standard and larger. The added cost appears in your subtotal and order review, and the glass affects the shipping estimate. You can also use your own jars. We’ll confirm recipe yields and equipment requirements before launch. Half-sour concepts are held and unavailable for new selection. They require a fermentation vessel, submersion weight, airlock lid, calibrated food pH meter, digital kitchen scale and room thermometer; these tools are not included.
How are Cucumber Pickle Trio and Garden & Table different?
Cucumber Pickle Trio is just for cucumbers, with development flavors like garlic dill and sweet heat. Half-sour concepts are held and unavailable for selection. Garden & Table is for other vegetables, including carrots, red onions, green beans, cauliflower, radishes, and carrots with daikon. The two have separate flavor lists. A meal kit may include a pickled side that goes with it, like red onions for tacos.
What comes in the Fruit Pickling Box?
You pick four mixes from seven flavors: Pineapple Chili Lime, Mango Ginger Chili, Peach Vanilla Spice, Watermelon Mint Lime, Strawberry Basil, Apple Cinnamon Ginger, and Pineapple Ginger Chili. You can repeat a favorite. Bring your own fruit and any wet ingredients outside your optional pantry pack. The box comes in Small through Crowd sizes. These flavors are still in development, and we’ll confirm their recipes, amounts, and storage directions before orders open.
Will I make the food myself?
Yes, that’s the idea. You prep the fresh food, mix the sauces and dips, make the pickled sides, and do the cooking. We help with dry blends and instructions. You can use your own jars or add ours to a pickling box. The planned pantry packs cover only the shelf-stable wet ingredients listed for your mixes. You supply the rest, including fresh food, water, chilled ingredients, and cooking equipment.
Are half-sours prepared like the other pickles?
Half-sour concepts are fermented and remain held while their process, customer directions and refrigeration requirements are reviewed. Required tools are a suitable fermentation vessel, submersion weight, airlock lid, calibrated food pH meter, digital kitchen scale and room thermometer. Tools are not included. These concepts cannot be newly selected or ordered.
Can I choose a smaller kit or stock up for a cookout?
Yes. Small has half the standard amount of each dry mix. Standard is the original amount, Large has 2 times, Cookout has 4 times, and Crowd has 8 times that amount. Each size keeps the same number of flavor choices. If you want more variety, you can add another box too. We’ll confirm packet weights, recipe yields, and size-specific directions before orders open.
Am I buying finished pickles or sauces?
The planned offer is dry mixes and printed instructions so you can make the food at home. Products remain in development, and orders are closed. The rubs are for food you buy and cook yourself. Optional jars and the planned shelf-stable pantry ingredients are listed and priced separately.
Can I choose every flavor?
You can preview eligible flavors within each kit’s categories. Half-sour concepts P09 and P10 remain held and unavailable for new selection. For example, Cucumber Pickle Trio has three cucumber mix spots. Garden & Table has three vegetable mix spots. Wing Night has one rub, two sauces, and a dip. Backyard BBQ has one pickle mix, one rub, one sauce, and one dip. Fruit Pickling Box has four fruit mix spots. Select a spot in the builder to see its flavors.
Can I pick the same flavor twice?
Yes. Choose the same flavor for more than one spot in its category if you’d like extra.
Why do I buy the fresh ingredients myself?
It gives you more choice. You can pick your favorite cuts of meat, buy produce from a store or market you like, and choose the quality and price that suit you. Our kits cover the dry mixes and instructions, with optional jars and planned shelf-stable pantry packs. No fresh food is included. Use the fresh ingredients listed in your kit’s recipe so it comes together as intended.
What do I need from the grocery store?
You’ll need the fresh food and wet ingredients listed in each recipe. That could mean cucumbers and brine ingredients, fruit and a sweetener, or the base for a sauce or dip. Half-sours have their own fermentation requirements. If you select a pantry pack, the listed shelf-stable ingredients are covered. Bring your own jars or select the jar add-on for pickling boxes. Full recipes and quantities will be available before sales begin.
Can I order right now?
Not yet. You can browse, build boxes, save them in your bag, and download or share your picks. We’re still getting the products, labels, and shipping ready. Saved boxes aren’t orders or reservations, and no payment is taken.
Are these mixes allergy friendly?
We haven’t finalized the ingredients or allergen statements yet. Some recipes may use milk, egg, soy, wheat, fish, sesame, mustard, or other ingredients. Please wait for the final labels before deciding whether a mix is suitable for you. A flavor name or filter can’t tell you that.
Do I need to subscribe?
No. We plan to start with one-time boxes and are exploring optional subscriptions for later. Pricing, delivery frequency, and plan details aren’t set, and subscriptions aren’t available yet. Saving a box never signs you up for recurring deliveries or charges.
Are the packets plastic-free or compostable?
Reducing unnecessary plastic is an important design goal. We're testing paper-based options, but have not verified all coatings, adhesives, closures or disposal pathways. We won't make a plastic-free, recyclable or compostable claim without evidence for the final package.
How many people does a kit serve?
These are development planning estimates, not released recipe yields. You supply the food and tools.
| Size | Boneless main / rub | Bone-in wing main | Small sides / flavor | Condiments / flavor |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 2–3 | 1–2 | 2–4 | 4–8 |
| Standard | 4–6 | 2–4 | 4–8 | 8–16 |
| Large | 8–12 | 4–8 | 8–16 | 16–32 |
| Cookout | 16–24 | 8–16 | 16–32 | 32–64 |
| Crowd | 32–48 | 16–32 | 32–64 | 64–128 |
Boneless meals assume 1/3–1/2 lb raw protein per diner; wing mains assume 1/2–1 lb raw bone-in wings. Each rub models 1 / 2 / 4 / 8 / 16 lb across the five sizes. Slow-cooked or bone-in meat may serve fewer people.
Pickle, vegetable and fruit kits make separate side batches: 2–4 oz produce per small side portion. Do not add varieties into unique diners. Everyday Cooking estimates apply to each rub and separate recipe. Sauce and dip counts assume 1–2 tablespoons per condiment portion and do not increase meal head counts.
Development estimates only. Portions vary with recipe, appetite, bones and cooking loss. These are not complete meals, guaranteed yields or approved scaling directions. No jar count, finished weight or shelf life is promised. Customer supplies meat or produce, other fresh or wet groceries and tools. Only expressly selected jar or pantry add-ons are included in the preview.
